Narnia is outside our window. The fir trees are heavy, branches drooping low with snow. Houses submerged beneath huge mounds of white. The landscape transformed into mounds and hills of cold white, soft stuff.
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is on the television and twin images are outside our windows, our landscape changing, merging into a dream world of fantasy and still the snow is falling. Beautiful, but dangerous.
On our way home from the field we watched a van sliding sideways, first left and then right as it crawled the long way up the hill. As we made our way along the road towards home, a car came sliding out of a side road and into our path. Thank goodness for four wheel drive, is all I can say! A nasty crash was avoided, but only because we were careful. I hope others take it easy, or simply stay off the roads. This is the heaviest snow I've EVER seen. Tomorrow I'll take lots of pictures, but for tonight, I hope you are all safe and sound inside your warm, cosy homes.
Yes, it's still falling, getting deeper and deeper......

Can you see the lamp post?
I did the same thing yesterday - it was snowing heavily and I put Narnia in my DVD player and enjoyed the journey into the wardrobe while watching the snow pile up outside.
We are used to heavy snows here, the schools didn't even close. Take care, keep warm, stay safe, and I hope your animals are well (but I'm sure they are with you to care for them).
Oh my, sounds like us a couple weeks ago. Stay safe and off the roads if you can. Hope Merlin and friends are doing well... enjoy the snow while it is pretty. The 2 feet of snow we had now exists only in our cameras and the huge piles of dirty snow the plows left us. All the rest has melted! Keep warm. ;)
We've not had snow like this for a good many years either, certainly not hanging around for so long either (waiting for more to join it, as my mum would have said). I fear it is going to get worse before it gets better. We were snowed in (because of our hill) when just a couple of inches of snow turned to compacted ice. we're certainly going NOWHERE now for a while! Keep safe.
Decided to keep my two at home today - just wasn't prepared to take the risk of bumping another car to get them to school!
It's all so very pretty - but I think a thaw would be fairly welcome soon! Hope your horses are coping ok with it all?
